Christmas break 20-21 : office closed from Friday 18/12 12pm till 3/1
placed by Karen Goderis on 17 December 2020 in OfficeDuring Christmas holidays, the office will be closed for 2 weeks (from Friday 18/12 12pm till 3/1).
The office is open again on Monday 4/1.
- Defects : from now on to be reported via the google form : https://forms.gle/L84SpNQJFkJPnnii6 (1 form per defect)
- Defects reported till Tuesday Dec 22 at 8pm, will be checked and solved during the week Dec 21 till 24 as far as possible.
- Defects reported after Dec 22 8pm, will normally have to wait till the first week of January.
- Procedure in case of urgent defects (no matter when, also on Christmas and New Years eve)
- Check if 1 of the 8 blokkies is present on Groenveld or in the neighborhood, via a message on Facebook Partypeople Groenveld or via SMS, Messenger, Whatsapp, email or go over to their room to check if they are present.
- Only if none of them is in the neighborhood of reacts within a reasonable time, according to the urgency of your defect, or if they can’t do anything to solve the problem, you are allowed to contact Centrale Dispatch via or via 016/32 22 00 (or via 22000 with the phone on the floor).
If you don’t adhere to this procedure, the costs for the urgent intervention of Technical Guard (=Technische Wacht) can be charged to you.
What are urgent defects? That are defects
- who are urgent by their nature (eg hallway filled with water)
- and who weren’t visible on Tuesday Dec 22th
- and who can’t wait at all till January 4th at the earliest.
Please note : the treating of urgent defects by Technical Guard (= Technische Wacht) is
usually not more than to prevent worse, e.g. unplugging a device.
So better check first if you can’t do that yourself too (e.g. disconnect the smoke alarm in
your room and then report via the google form that you need a new one)
- Precautions in case of cold wave : Before you leave Groenveld for a longer period of time for Christmas and to study, it is best to take precautions in case of a cold wave during the following weeks.
- As a tenant you have to avoid frost damage in your room and in the communal areas on your floor (see internal regulations). So never turn the heater off completely during freezing weather in your room, in the kitchen and in the bathroom. Choose minimum position * and even position 1 or 2 in extremely cold weather. Obviously close all windows. Please do not turn off the heater in the washing area in the cellar of blok 2.
- With extreme cold temperatures, we often have in Groenveld problems with no more functioning freezers resulting in spoiled food. Although it seems to be contradictory, it is real. To avoid this problem there is one good advice : make sure that the temperature in the kitchen doesn’t sink not below 9°C. The problem is that we don’t have accurate weather forecasts for next weeks. If a floor mate is present in Groenveld the following weeks, he/she can set the heater if needed. If not, it’s better to keep the heater in the kitchen switched on, minimum at position * and at position 1 or 2 in extreme cold periods.
